Hypnotic blues from light to dark kiss the sandy shores in water, forest, and stone. We explore, meditate, and restore in Nature’s watery blues and blacks. Beachcombing in cozy layers, reading antique stories made in transplendent detailed form, and delighting in deep berry bakes, this cool oceanic Springtime rushes up the branch buds and winds down and around to rest in the wake. Designer Tip of the Day: Rich Colour Layering

By layering colours in the same depth and temperature, but in different textures and weights, one can accomplish a level of visual and textural coziness that feels richer than an outfit of one colour shade. An outfit using well-fitting, classic wardrobe pieces is a helpful go-to for every wardrobe. Why not have a smaller wardrobe where every piece is classic, well-fitting, and timeless? This way, you can easily mix and match to combine many outfits for maximum wear and versatility.
Blue & Black colour combinations are beautiful for women, menswear, and baby & child. Lovely for the home, garden, and menu. Beautifully dressed books in blue with golden edges and satin ribbons. Water and sky, shining stone and hedge leaves, moon and star…natural blues of all shades and hues…soulful and true.
This weekend, I chose moody blues and blacks to wander the chilly windswept beach: A navy blue fisherman knit sweater, a corduroy dusty blue skirt, black cable knit stockings, boots, and topped with an Irish cap in navy tweed. Another day, a simply elegant look: well-tailored black cropped trousers, black sandals, a black ballet wrap sweater, a blue neck scarf, and a navy blue velvet beret. Accessories accent an outfit. Keep them minimal for a look that is effortlessly chic. For Spring & Summer, a simple basket purse or small cross body handbag is light and easy. A larger basket or tote is helpful for outtings to parks and beaches. A quilt and a picnic basket for lunches on the lawn or sand. Scarves and hats help keep good health during the transitions between seasons. Always a hat and scarf for us, but the type changes with the weather. Another: A navy print fitted sundress, a sheer black blouse, and black espadrilles. Endless possibilities!
As with all shopping, look for ethically well-made items, that fit your beautiful body very well, and are healthy, durable, and comfortable. Do the fabrics use vegan organic non-toxic dyes and materials? Darker shades are generally more difficult to find healthy options in, but not impossible. Are conditions healthy for the makers and areas around the production houses? How does the fabric feel on your skin and senses? Are the colours flattering for your skin tone? What is the silhouette? Is this piece a classic, timeless look? How do the items work together as a family or wardrobe? How do you feel in these colours and shapes? How can you layer your colours for a cohesive mood?
