Holiday berries and cream are the colour palette here in our finished sitting room renovation. The hearth is bright and airy and decorated for each season. The raspberry walls hug us as we play. We chose healthy materials, built in useful storage, and we love this custom design by yours truly. It is satisfying to turn a dusty dysfunctional house into a dream come true. There are lots of wooden desks and cosy corners. Little pumpkin soup dinners and first snowfalls are the focus this fall. I write stories every day. Now, I’ll be in full editing mode, so I’m planning a simply cosy autumn for our daily mood. New books will release this winter! We have more time this year, having finished our Rose Cottage renovations. We’re finally settling in now. Making mood boards is a fun routine we enjoy each season. There are many ways to enjoy the little moments of each day. Baking a special treat, such as this apple pie, can be shared piece by piece all week in the evenings. Reading a longer bedtime story, bit by bit each night, is a fun way to connect not only to the reader and the laugher, but to a healthy tradition of togetherness and dependability. Getting back to private fun phone calls that only two friends can hear is bliss, unless there is someone listening in then you have to play a few jokes on the eavesdropper. “Gotcha!” Remember doing things you actually like to do, things just for you. This is life. This is living. These little moments feel natural and good. They’re real. And, then you’ll remember that you are real, too! Unplug, mill around the house, browse a bookshelf, sit in the fresh air, go for a stroll, and draw out something pleasant for you to breathe into.

Welcome to Early Spring at our Rose Cottage. It’s still snowing every day, and we cuddle up with tea to read. Here are a few books from our collection and some from the local library. It’s fun to find out which ones we love and wish to add to our home library. We use these for homeschool, too. My own original Amor Milagre artwork and books are also featured. The piano song is a melody I made up when little to meditate on during transitional times. This month, the flower bulbs are stretching up to the sun and the snow falls in fluffy clouds. The owl and deer visit by night. By day, we visit a local farm to pet the fluffy bunnies and inhale the maple sap clouds. Then it’s off to an icy lake to whirl in the wind, and home again to pancakes and the history of maples for the weekly essay.
