A sweet little tree for spring, decorated by little designers is our springtime cup of tea, here in our Rose Cottage library. We keep a box for each season, and last year we added an Aunt March ornament from our trip to Louisa May Alcott’s Orchard House in Concord, MA. See if you can spot her… Lizzy Bennet is on there, too!

We wish you a lovely early spring Thursday! Love, ~Amor Milagre

Our homeschool lessons are even more fun with some seasonal decor! Today, we’re finishing up an interesting book about Maria Sibylla Merian, the lady who figured out where insects come from…eggs! Can you imagine that it was once the belief that ‘summer birds’ spontaneously appeared, and that they (butterflies, moths, and insects in general) were considered evil, as well as those who paid attention to them? Gardening and entomology does not equal wicked sorcery. Crazy times… Now, if we could only find the actual full books of this revolutionary woman. There are snippets, but if you know of where to find the full volumes let us know. Her life’s work deserves to be preserved, admired, well known, and studied. After all, so much of what we now know derives from her brave scientific and artistic studies. Her artwork is amazing! Imagine what she could have done if she was respected as a woman in her field, and in her family. Women are unlimited, intuitive wonders. Remember this, honour us, credit us, and you just might learn something that benefits everyone.
