Atelier Amor Milagre
Designing with the senses and nature heals the soul and invites new positive adventures.
I am a professional designer, author, and artist. My unique design process evolved by sensing what could simply be possible by efficiently and naturally following my instincts to allow sensitive design to emerge and improve one’s daily life. This page shows some of my home and garden designs, both exterior and interior. The shop menu displays designs for my original books, art, stationery, illustration, house gifts, wax seals, furniture, toys, and organic apparel. I have a BFA in product design from a top design school in NYC. I have worked briefly in the fashion industry as a designer, but found the bigger companies to be too unhealthy a lifecycle and lifestyle. I have been designing my company, Amor Milagre, since I was a child. It is an heirloom gift to share with my darling talented family to continue, adding in their own beautiful tales and inventions.
My talented husband has an engineering degree and can build seemingly anything. Together, we have hand-built two custom-designed homes and organic gardens, and I also designed a new family home for us to live in later. We make our own furniture, upholstery, and cabinetry in our woodworking atelier. All designs are eco-friendly, custom-measured, and highly health-conscious. That is vital for us and for you!
In the future, I will add a woodworking section to my shop, including our beautiful hand-painted wooden dollhouses and toys, as well as household gifts, shelves, and decor. Pottery is on my list, too. Just like cooking, everything has a recipe, and one can truly enjoy making everything beautiful!
Now, I will touch on our extensive and private home designs. I am not accepting any new jobs to design your homes this year, as we are not traveling at this time, but I will consider certain mailable custom ideas if presented clearly. Thank you. ~Emmanuelle

Custom Design & Build: Interior, Exterior, Garden, System, & Lifestyle

First House: Dove Cottage was designed to feel like a tree house, using natural light and large windows to frame out the seasons. The design choices are European in style, specifically inspired by classic French and Italian homes but use modern efficiency and crispness. Nature is always the muse. In turn, I am inspired to write books and paint for a full, endless cycle friendship with the tree leaves, acorns, stream, and clouds. My designs include consideration for easy cleaning and short/long-term non-toxic living. All colours for this house were chosen to complement the surrounding forest for a calm, light, daily mood. There are two rooms with brighter colours, such as this raspberry wallpaper above (Designer’s Guild, London), and a soothing French Blue in the basement. When paired with neutrals, nature’s brighter colours still look natural and speak to the soul. The lighting choices of sconces enhance each chosen mood as the sun sets into evening. A bed of sleepy foxgloves and many perennial flowers cosy up in the front garden, and the organic edibles rest near the visiting deer family in the back garden. A green world of mossy whale-shaped rocks and endless trees and streams enchant the back woods.
My husband and I sold Dove Cottage, our first home, that we lovingly and sustainably hand-built with positive energy. We had to move due to the neighbour’s thoughtless acts of deforestation and various kinds of pollution. This was especially sad as we were wed in our woods and our mer-family was born here. We have since moved from our handmade home by the ocean to an old house beside the mountains where we have been renovating for the past many years with sustainable design choices and major room changes. See below for information on how to follow along with our renovation journey.

…and so, we packed up every spoon and baby bonnet…after laying in the last piece of tile…

Second House: Our current New England home is called Rose Cottage.
I will soon be adding more to my Home & Garden Renovation Journal here on this website.
Follow along for the various renovation project reveals and design tips that I share as we renovate our New England home. My soulful designs are all about sustainability, organic nature, and a healthy sensitivity so that everyone can thrive.
Every inch of Rose Cottage, and the surrounding cottage gardens, is being gently designed and renovated by myself and my husband. We sell unwanted items and systems and replace them with efficient, sustainable materials and eco-systems. The colours are still natural, as were the colours for our first house, but many of the rooms have moodier shades such as dusty lavender for cosy nappers, deep plum-berry for romantic evenings by the hearth, caramel chocolate for a teddy bear/violin inspired bedroom, cream and watery green library-office-homeschool room to invoke fresh curiosity for little readers and for myself as I work on my books, and glowing dusty pink lingering baths in the moonlight. The rest of the house is a heavy cream, as is the exterior after painting over a gloomy grey-blue colour. Our custom built-in storage & furniture is either natural wood, creamy, or a gorgeous moody shade. This storage allows for a calm, organized home that is free of dusty clutter. We brightened up the rooms, and deepened others into the mood that each room was asking me for. When I choose colours for a room, I lean into the shadows and listen to the light. The neglected gardens were made into a children’s fairyland playground with pathways to explore, arching patches of tall buzzing flowers, a large section for organic edible plants and orchard trees, new evergreens and spring bulbs, and endless blooms to peak into…as you know the faeries love to sleep in the petals. The feeling of this house is a restful English/Belgian cottage where a cup of warm tea sits on every table…and I’m ready to write new tales of our mountain-lake adventures.
I simplify the home for the senses. Awareness is key. Too many lines, sounds, scents, etc are overwhelming and take energy. My designs give energy back and allow the dweller to rest and increase their health and energy for positive daily choices. We parged the brick chimney to rest the eyes (using leftover cream exterior parge from our first house), we replaced and unified the flooring and added a joint-healthy cork underlayment, and we changed the flow with new walls to quiet the home so one can think of beautiful ideas and sleep well. For the big jobs of changing out the old, loud (no sleep) heating system to radiant heating, flooring, changing rooms/entrances around, and for our daily projects, please visit my recent posts on my Journal page. It’s been exhausting every day…but after years of diligence and care, Rose Cottage is nearly finished. (It’s been tough to have had to live in the house whilst building the first house and then do it all over again whilst renovating the second. We prefer building, so third times the charm…but we won’t live-in for that one. We’d love a forever home, a family heirloom house…but so much depends on others’ choices/pollution. Wish us luck!) Just a few last things to do, then I will post about all/most that we have done. Storage is key here to keep the rooms feeling calm and organised, so we have lots of fun, unique woodworking designs to showcase!
I have designed our forever home for us to build later on, and once we do, I’ll share those gentle designs here.
Many of my peaceful children’s books and novels have been written here, and you can sense my home and garden designs within the pages. A few upcoming children’s books are all about building and renovating. The Amor Milagre design and lifestyle book is also in the works. Check back for new book releases.

I recently opened up a new section in my shop for Flower Seeds from our organic Rose Cottage Garden.
Each season, new flower seed varieties will be added to my growing collection to encourage everyone to plant seeds everywhere for a green, healthy world.
