The Original Fruit Snack
We love fresh fruit, nothing tops it, but sometimes for a less messy, easy to carry, on-the-go snack for parent & baby/child, organic dried fruit is an amazing go-to option. It can help provide fiber and antioxidants, but is high in natural sugar and calories, so eat sporadically in small portions. These have no additives or added white sugar. For our fruit drying recipes, check back soon. Black currant, cranberry, fig, mango, and more are delicious options for many times of need. Figs are spreadable. Dot a salad with any of these for a punch of flavour. Make a mix with nuts to keep with you to boost energy. Enjoy the difference of tasting fresh vs. dried. The colours, textures, moisture, and flavours change in interesting ways. Use less, as flavours are more concentrated. Ways of preserving harvests to enjoy year round are worth exploring.
Easter surprises can be healthy and fun. Opt for sustainable, sugar-free & additive-free options. Fruit is a lovely treat. Non-toxic toys that will last a childhood and maybe be passed down later on are good investments. Less toys, beautiful imagery for memories, responsible baby-safe materials are good choices and help the home stay relaxing and calming. Research your choices ahead of time, and when the surprise arrives, take great pleasure in giving the gift.
Visit your community’s Easter and seasonal celebrations. See if there is something out there you really enjoy and make it an annual tradition. Help encourage more sustainable options, for example, less plastic disposable eggs, and maybe the kids grow plants from seeds to invite bees into the garden. Start harmless, helpful traditions. Music and dancing is fun for all ages. No matter your faith, you can celebrate the change of the seasons with your family in Earth-friendly ways that mean something to you. Good inspires more good. Fun, sustainable community-building activities are possible. We’ll be planting magic, some flower bulbs, this Easter Sunday.
Hunting eggs might be fun once a year, but is spending every day of the year ‘hunting’/mindlessly shopping or searching online how life needs to be spent? No. It’s more tiring and endlessly unsatisfying. What you seek is already within. Enjoy all the beauties of nature, your loved ones, and the humourous conversations awaiting you. Go screen-free daily, especially on holidays, and spend time ‘being’. How beautiful the Spring air! How excited the grass is to grow taller and greener, full of life, to ease and feed others. Plant garden seeds and grow your pantry. Explore with children. Ask questions, listen, and respond with love. Check in with friends. Unwind language back down to love. Rest and breathe. Have fun! 🙂 Check back for our upcoming books!
It’s all about love and living well with others and the Earth. Simple is good. A very special Easter Day to you and yours! ~Amor
