When staying somewhere new, the senses need to adjust to temperature, moisture, aesthetics, air flow and quality, water pressure and levels, new routines, sound levels, scents, the feel and flow of rooms (especially in the dark), neighbours, energy history, seating and bedding comfort, and learning new muscle memory for where everything goes. Listen to your body and respond with the help she/he asks for. Bring your favourite mug. Not everything can be helped, but what can is meaningful and loving for the self and others. Explore new areas with the wonder of a child’s bright eyes, senses, and curiosity. Bring home design ideas, beautiful inspiration, and heart warming memories.
The senses acclimate well when transitioned with the scent of familiar comfort foods, favourite books, music, and movies, your own linens, and a journal to listen to your observations of this new world. This is very helpful for children, too. New places are an opportunity to evaluate and redesign your well-being and redirect your life direction with positive tweaks and additions. Allow yourself to rest, let go, and laugh.
Roasted Hazelnut Cacao Stovetop Brownies
Warm, crunchy hazelnuts, smooth cacao, sweet banana, and buttery cinnamon is the perfect sugar-free, vegan, flourless dessert full of nutrients and minerals. This combination of delicious super foods is an instant calming agent, and it’s the first thing to soothe after a big transition.
Non-GMO, organic, local, free range, grass-fed ingredients:
1/4 C of Blended Roasted Hazelnuts, 3 tbsp Coconut Milk, 4 tbsp 100% Cacao, (Optional/Not Needed: 1 tsp Agave Amber Nectar), 1 Ripe Banana, 1/8 C Ground Flaxseed Meal, 1/2 tsp Pink Himalayan Salt, 1 tsp Vanilla, 1 tsp Cinnamon
Pairs well with a Cup of Egyptian Licorice Tea (Caffeine-Free) and fresh, sliced oranges.
To Roast Hazelnuts, place them on a baking sheet in a 350 degree oven and bake until the house is scented wonderfully and the shells easily crinkle off. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and blend in a blender on chop until consistency is a medium-fine mixture.
Store in a glass container with a lid to use in this recipe, as a pie crust base, sprinkle in with sweet potatoes, and other dishes. You can make a hazelnut cacao spread and keep in a jar, but this recipe is a great way to have these flavours without having to spread them on anything like bread. Less work for your body and complete food bliss. Win win!
In a frying pan, add all ingredients listed above, mash the banana and stir everything together with a wooden spoon. Cook until desired consistency. For more fudgy brownies cook less, for more cake-like cook a little longer. Stir until cooked, remove and have with Egyptian licorice tea.
